Our Dentists
Kenneth D. Schwartz, D.D.S.
Dr. Ken Schwartz has been practicing dentistry in Schenectady for over thirty years. He did his undergraduate work at Kent State University in Ohio. He later graduated from Case Western Reserve School of Dentistry with a degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery. He did his general practice residency at the Highland View Rehabilitation Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio before moving to Schenectady and buying a dental practice.
An experienced general dentist, Dr. Schwartz has developed a high degree of skill in preventative, restorative, cosmetic and specialty dental care. His patients also admire him for his gentle touch and calm manner.
Dr. Schwartz remains passionate about learning new techniques and regularly participates in extensive continuing education courses that keep him current with the latest developments in the field of dentistry. His recent course study includes implants, sleep apnea and oral appliances and Invisalign (clear braces).
He is a member of the American Dental Association, the New York State Dental Society the American Dental Implant Association and the Fourth District Dental Society of New York.
In his spare time Dr. Schwartz enjoys cycling on the bike trail (weather permitting), or on the Peloton bike. He also enjoys gardening, walking his two English Cocker Spaniels and spending time with his wife Cynde and his family.
Alexandra Tarasova, D.D.S.
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Alexandra Tarasova to our practice! Having graduated from Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry, she came to this country in 2015 where she eventually entered the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry. She graduated from there as a licensed dentist in Illinois. However, her ultimate goal was to practice in NY State, so she completed the requirements to get a NYS license and finished up her General Practice Residency at St. Peter’s Hospital Dental Clinic last June.
Along with being highly educated, other dentists have described Dr. Tarasova’s work on patients as exceptional! She does many types of dentistry including surgical or simple extractions, fillings, crowns, on-lays and bridges. She also handles complete dentures, partial dentures, implant placement and restorations, implant over dentures, and Endodontic (root canal) therapies.
Dr. Tarasova is fluent in Russian. She has an enthusiastic pleasant personality that ensures our patients get the best possible care in a positive atmosphere.
Medical Staff
Hygienists: Our two skilled hygienists Yulia (left) and Gail (right) have friendly personalities and a gentle touch. We know this because our patients consistently compliment both of them. Yulia has been on the staff for over ten years. She is also fluent in Russian. Gail worked part-time for us for two years before accepting a fulltime position a few years ago. Gail is fluent in Tagalog (Filipino) and speaks basic Spanish. Both are graduates of the Dental Hygiene Program at Hudson Valley Community College.
Dental Assistants: We are fortunate to have two talented and professional dental assistants on our team. For over 15 years Pat (left) has worked with Dr. Schwartz as his assistant. She is also the purchasing agent for the medical supplies. Alka (right) began her career in elder care and more recently switched over to dental assisting. She joined our team a couple of years ago and she loves working in the dental field. Alka is also fluent in Guyanese.
Business Staff
Business Staff: Our Business Office staff is exceptional. Nicole is the Office Manager and holds a BA in Psychology from SUNY Albany. She has worked for the practice for over a decade. Rita Machin had been a patient for years and before being hired as a Business Assistant. Rita holds degrees in Hotel Technology and Culinary Arts.
